Youth Events

We provide a safe space for youth to get away from home and school stress

We do weekly under 16 events with Stepping Black and 16+ events with us. All events are supervised by blue card vetted supervisors. Contact us or Stepping Black for details.

Youth adulting support services (yass queen)

We empower rural youth to become fully functioning adults

Yass supports young people aged 12 to 21 who are at risk of disconnection from their family, community, recreational and/or support networks. Generally this will be youths who lack protective factors (parents etc.) this helps them achieve their short term goals

Eligibility

Aged 12 to 21 and at risk of:

  • Disconnection from Family/ Community
  • Disengagement from School/Employment
  • Homelessness
  • At risk of harm, including suicide & self harm

What do we do

  • Assist with getting TFN/resume
  • Help engaging with mental health services
  • Help getting their learner licence
  • Apply for income support

Due to this not currently being funded this has limited availability. Youth must engage with the program themselves. Contact us for more details.

Aussie World Excursion

We give the rural youth a big city excursion experience

We hire a bus and take kids out to Aussie World for fun fond memories that will last a lifetime! Some entries are subsidized depending on funding. More details are advertised on our FB page closer to the November when we typically go.

Other Initiatives

New initiatives to improve the community we live in

We have funding to match services offered in big city’s which includes things like

Student Laptop Initiative (SLI) – Provides free laptops for students that cannot get one through traditional means. Consists of a donation of laptops to the schools & laptops provided through nomination to reduce stigma. Conditions apply, please contact us for more information

Proposed Initiatives

License Assistance Initiative – We are seeking funding to provide free driving lessons to assist rural youth in getting their license in preparation for joining the workforce.

Non youthspace Initiatives

Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) – Provides free internet access until 2028 if you have a child who is attending school. Terms and conditions here and signup is done through NBCS
